Meet Sam

My name is Sam Phillips, Managing Director of S.Phillips Window Cleaning Company Limited.

I started window cleaning at the same time as joining the Fire Service back in 2004. At the beginning the business was small and I worked with a ladder and a bucket of soapy water out of the boot of my car. This was just the start of S.Phillips Window cleaning Company! As part of my cleaning, I naturally included the window frames and sills, customers were delighted that this was inclusive in the price I quoted, and this is something that I continued to do moving forward and still do now. My attention to detail has enabled me to grow my business over the years.

I purchased a more suitable vehicle and introduced “the water fed pole system” and offered this type of window cleaning to my clients. Over 95% of the clients converted over to this system. Though its more expensive to use this method, the finished result was better and safer to use as all the cleaning was done at ground level without the use of ladders.

The water fed pole system was a success and I was enlarging the number of clients I was able to clean. I purchased a second vehicle and gained another window cleaner to join the business. This meant that we were able to take more clients and my client base increased quite rapidly.

Over time we purchased more vehicles and staff to keep up with the demand. We also introduced other services to the business including pressure washing, fascia’s and soffit cleaning, gutter clearance, solar panel cleaning, carpet and upholstery cleaning and now Moss removal and roof treatments.

We also purchased a home office to work from so we could now start focusing on our customer retention and services..

In 2014 the business went to a Limited Company. We had a small team of staff that had help with the growth of the Company. We have office staff now to help with the day to day running of the Company and customer services.

We have taken on bigger cleans which include large commercial premises. We continue to serve our residential clients as I believe that this is important as this was how we are here today.

We have advertised on a larger scale which includes ‘checkatrade’ and other social media platforms.

When Covid-19 hit our country, it was a big hit to our Company as it was for many. I don’t think anyone knew what to do for the best. Most of our commercial clients were put on hold. We continued to clean our residential clients, though this posed as a challenge for obvious reasons. I think that this helped the Company build a stronger rapport and level of trust with our customers, by keeping in touch on a regular basis and reassuring them that we are here for them when they are ready for us, also that we are taking the necessary procedures and actions. We have now introduced a disinfecting fogging service to help with workplaces to continue to work in their offices and we have continued to offer this service to our Commercial clients.

Today we are still going as strong as ever. We are a family run, professional cleaning service striving for 100% customer satisfaction. We have many years’ experience in this field, and we continue to please our clients. I have served 17 years in the Fire Service now and continue to make the Company a greater success, with thanks to our customers, their loyalty and their support.
